Cookies and browser storage

What stays in your browser, what does not, and where to find the controls.

Effective: 1 January 2026

What these technologies do

Cookies are small pieces of information a website can ask a browser to store and send back with later requests. Local storage is a separate browser mechanism that can retain values on a device without automatically attaching them to every request. Browser caching stores copies of resources such as images and stylesheets to help pages load efficiently.

The editorial website

The editorial pages and tools do not set advertising or analytics cookies, include third-party tracking scripts or use local storage to save your studio-note drafts. Navigation and scroll-reveal effects work without persistent personal profiles. There is no account system or shopping basket.

If a site-level privacy control is displayed, it is separate from these editorial tools. It may retain your privacy choice on your device so that it can be respected on later visits. Accepting optional storage is not required to read the studies or use the local note composer.

Storage and device actions used by the editorial features
FeatureBehaviourPersistence
Studio-note draftHeld in the current page’s memoryNot saved by the tool between visits
Copy noteWrites text to your clipboard after your actionControlled by your device and clipboard settings
Download noteCreates a local plain-text fileRemains until you remove it

Your note is not a cookie

Typing into the composer does not transmit the message to us. Copying or downloading also does not send it. A copied message can remain on your clipboard, and a downloaded file remains in the location you choose. On a shared device, clear the clipboard and remove downloaded notes if you do not want others to access them.

Your browser may independently restore form fields or keep page history. Use its privacy controls if you want to remove those records. The website does not control operating-system clipboard history, browser synchronisation or email-provider storage.

Managing browser data

Most browsers let you inspect site data, delete cookies and local storage, restrict third-party cookies and clear cached files. Look in the privacy or site-settings area of your browser. Deleting stored privacy choices may cause a site-level privacy control to ask again. Blocking all storage can affect some websites, but the articles here do not require an account or saved draft.
